Thanks for your interest in delivering with Relay Philly!

I’M ACTIVE - HOW DO I START MAKING MONEY? HOW DOES THIS ALL WORK?

You need to log in to start making money! The longer you log-in, the more money you can make because:

  1. we pay you an hourly fee

  2. Since we pay hourly we have an economic incentive to do our best in matching supply with demand, therefore you have a higher chance of receiving orders every time you log on!

  3. We don’t collect fees. 100% of the tips that the customer pays go to you

  4. the more pick-up requests you complete, the more you can earn in tips and bonuses (We bonus during inclement weather, and there’s additional bonuses per order for working during our initial stages. Relay bonuses at its sole discretion and reserves the right to discontinue or diminish bonuses without notice. You can do very well if you’re logged in during our lunch and dinner rushes [10:30am-2pm and 5pm-9pm]. Inclement weather can lead to especially busy days!)

To log in to the Relay app, we recommend making a reservation. Simply go to your reservations tab and select all the times you’d like to use the app. It will show as follows:

Once you are reserved, you simply need to hit “start working” on the home screen to log in and start earning money.

What if I have no reservation? Can I still work?

As long as it’s busy, you simply need to hit “start working” and you should be allowed to log in as long as you are in our area of operations

OKAY, SO WHERE EXACTLY CAN I LOG IN TO START WORKING?

We currently operate in Center City, South Philly, University City, Northern Liberties and Fishtown. If you press start working in these areas with a reservation, you should be able to log in.

I got a delivery request - what do I do?

When you accept an order, you’ll be prompted to go to the restaurant and pick up orders. Once you arrive at the restaurant, the application will give you the name of the orders you’re there to pick up. Kindly notify a restaurant employee and they’ll give you the corresponding orders. Only pick up what is assigned to you. Once you confirm picking up the orders, you’ll be prompted to drop them off at the customer’s addresses. Easy!

If you accept an order or pick up a delivery, it’s expected that you complete the task ASAP. Failure to arrive at a restaurant or customer’s address may result in loss of account access.

What if I don’t receive deliveries? Will I still be paid?

Yes, you will still be paid for being logged in. Our goal is to keep growing quickly so you’re always busy, but there may be times where it is slow. We can re-assure you that you will still be paid for your time.

Okay but how do i get paid exactly?

We pay you directly via direct deposit, so make sure you enter your correct banking information as soon as your account is activated.

.Our pay periods are from Thursday through Wednesday. Deposits arrive the following Tuesday. For example, someone who started working on April 9 (a Thursday) would receive their first deposit on April 21 (a Tuesday). The deposit would be for all earnings collected from April 9 (thursday) through April 15 (Wednesday). Anything collected from Aprl 16 to April 22? Deposited on April 28. And so on.

You’re welcome to use Relay as much as you like up until your weekly limit is met (limits can vary by pay period). Hours reset every Thursday. You are not required to use Relay for all available hours. You decide when and how much you want to use Relay, up until the limit is met. If you finish your hours for the pay period, you’ll need to wait for the pay period to reset to continue using Relay and earning money.

As you are an independent contractor, we will not deduct any taxes. Instead, you’ll receive a 1099 form the following year confirming how much you made in the previous fiscal year. The stride health app is strongly recommend to keep track of your expenses as a contractor, which can be used for future tax deductions.

Cash orders — most orders are prepaid, but some restaurants accept cash payment. If you receive a cash order, the application will make it super clear you need to collect cash from the corresponding customer. You shouldn’t pay for this order up front, nor bring the cash payment back to the restaurant. Instead, the total order cost of the food will be deducted from your corresponding shift and paycheck. We recommend carrying some cash on you in case customers request change.

READ THIS BECAUSE WE WANT YOU TO GET PAID:

Head to the direct deposit tab in the application where you can add your payment information. Make sure you put in your correct account and routing numbers here. Not sure what these are? Contact your bank and you’ll have that info in no time! We recommend adding this information as soon as you’re activated to ensure you’re paid as soon as your first corresponding pay period is completed.

Common troubleshooting

Customer isn’t answering the phone? Please contact the restaurant. Think of it this way: every time you pick up a delivery you’re working in tandem with that restaurant to ensure the customer gets their food. The food belongs to the restaurant, so you should ensure they’re aware of any potential issues! Most restaurants will try to contact customers themselves if they’re not answering. If they’re unable to touch base (or if no one is answering your calls, period), we recommend returning the food to the restaurant since it is theirs. This way, you’re no longer responsible for that order. Best of all, you’ll keep the tip on the order since you made an attempted delivery and it’s not your fault the customer didn’t answer. Any subsequent delivery will come with a $2.50 tip charged to the restaurant as a re-delivery.

Restaurant taking too long? If you feel like you’ve been waiting too long, we recommend kindly asking how much longer it might be until the food is ready. Remember, you have the option of leaving the restaurant if they’re taking too long or if the order was cancelled. Make sure you use the “leave now without taking any orders button”

TLDR: Always call the customer. ALWAYS call the restaurant if you can’t get in touch with the customer. Can’t get in touch with the restaurant or customer? Please return the food to the restaurant!

Misc. Questions

What could lead me to losing Relay access? — Any activities deemed to be abuse of the platform will result in loss of platform access. This includes but is not limited to: taking longer than the industry standard to arrive at restaurant partners or dropping off orders, being reported for having a negative encounter with a restaurant or one of their customers, etc. The best way to ensure you don’t have any issues is to arrive at restaurants and customers in a safe, timely, and professional manner!

Why am I not receiving orders? — First of all, make sure you’re connected and logged in! If you’re still not receiving orders, it could be because you’re too far from your reserved area. We recommend logging in there and riding back there after completing deliveries! It’s also possible that it’s just slow while you’re logged in. Try working during our rush hours (11am-2pm and 6pm-10pm) instead. Picking up and delivering orders is the only way to maximize your earnings.

Anything else I should know? — If you plan to use the app frequently, it’s worth investing in an external battery! Once you’re disconnected, no more opportunities for earning!

We recommend using pizza racks on your bikes! Pizza orders generally have higher tips too so it’s a good way to make money back on your investment!

Make sure you also have good gear for inclement weather (rain, snow, etc.). Being online during days with poor weather can lead to big $$$
